Palm Springs International Film Festival
The Palm Springs International Film Festival, to be held January 3-14, 2008, is one of the largest film festivals in the country. Each January, the festival screens over 250 films from more than 70 countries to an audience of nearly 120,000. The annual Awards Gala honors individuals in the entertainment industry with several prestigious awards for acting, directing, achievement in film scoring, and life achievement. Past honorees have included Brad Pitt and the cast of Babel, Shirley MacLaine, Sydney Pollack, Cate Blanchett, Phillip Glass, Kate Winslet and many more Hollywood luminaries.
The City of Indian Wells serves as a Presenting Sponsor of the Film Festival through the city's Cultural and Promotional Activities Grant Program.
As a Presenting Sponsor, the city presents the "Indian Wells Series"--six important official submissions for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Additionally, every year Indian Wells residents are treated to a special complimentary screening of a Festival award winner. Screenings are held after the Festival concludes. Residents are also invited to community film screenings throughout the year.
